Samsung’s next $1 trillion wireless speaker will use a “new generation of speaker amp technology” to boost sound quality
Samsung is betting on wireless speakers, but it’s starting with something a little more subtle than a cheap speaker.
The Samsung Bluetooth speaker announced on Tuesday features a special “sound enhancement” chip that can boost sound by up to 50%, according to a Samsung spokesperson.
That’s the same type of technology found in Bluetooth speakers that are now in high-end Apple products like the iPhone 7 Plus, Apple Watch Series 4 and even the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
“Samsung is one of the most innovative companies in the world,” said Mark DellaVedova, president of Samsung’s Wireless Devices business.
“They have made huge strides in the wireless market in the last few years, and we are delighted to be a part of their success.”
The new Samsung Bluetooth sound amplifier will be available in three sizes: a 12-inch speaker with an 18-inch woofer and a 30-inch with a 25-inch.
Both sizes will cost $1,000.
The company’s new speakers aren’t the first wireless speaker to feature this kind of sound enhancement.
Earlier this year, Apple introduced a 10-inch Bluetooth speaker with a 12″ woofer.
Samsung says the new speaker will also be a bit smaller and have less bass.
It’s unclear how the new Samsung speaker will perform on a speaker stand, but its design and specs suggest the speaker will be a premium product.
Samsung said the speakers will have “an incredibly smooth, consistent sound and exceptional sound-staging capabilities.”
