Apple is testing Bluetooth speakers, speaker mounts for iPhones
Apple is rolling out new speaker mounts to the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and 6s Max.
The company announced today that the new Apple Wireless Speaker Mount for iPhones 6 and 6 Plus will launch later this month, with a price tag of $179.99.
The mounts are compatible with Apple’s wireless earbuds, which are the only other device that supports Bluetooth headsets with a microphone.
Apple has been working on speaker mounts since 2014, but it took a while for them to actually see the light of day.
In 2016, Apple’s first-ever iPhone speaker mount, the iDroid, launched, but Apple later announced that the device was a hoax.
The iDoid was also not a real product, and Apple eventually discontinued its wireless headset mount.
Now, the company is finally ready to go ahead and introduce new mount for iPhones.
The $179 purchase includes the iFlex and the iSpeaker Mount, but the mounts do not come with an iFlim app, so you’ll need an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to use the mounts.
Apple is working on two different mounting configurations, the Apple Wireless Earbuds and Apple Wireless Headphones.
The Apple Wireless earbud mounts can be paired with Apple EarPods, but you can’t pair with the iPhone’s microphone.
The iFluid mounts, however, are compatible and will work with the Apple Watch, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.
The new iFlam mounts come with two connectors on each end, which means they can connect to the Apple Earpods and iPhone 6 Pro without needing to pair with your phone.
The mounting bracket is compatible with all Apple EarBuds, but there are only two connector options: the Apple Flex or the iGrip, both of which are sold separately.
Apple is also rolling out a third connector for the iSpa, which will connect to all iPhone 5, 6, and 5s models.
In addition to the new mounts, Apple is releasing a new iPhone app for its wireless earphones, called the iEarPod App, which is designed to help users easily and quickly pair and set up wireless earphone headsets.
It will launch this fall.
